JV Takes Three Titles

The McDonald County High School junior varsity wrestling team won three titles and had six other wrestlers finish in the top three at the Labette County JV Wrestling Tournament held Jan. 13 in Altamont, Kan.

Picking up wins for the Mustangs were Jack Teague (143-144), Jarred Maggard (219-228) and Lane Pointer (264-81).

Teague won three of his four of his matches with pins in the first period. His other win was a major decision (14-3) over Jeremy Ridge of Chanute.

Maggard won all three of his matches by pin, and Pointer won both of his matches by pin.

Taking second for McDonald County were Justin Smith (120), Keagan Spurgeon (126), Carson Hoth (132) and Carl Iohp (220). Earning third place were Erin Yang (106), Justin Smith (120) and Leon Zacarias (138).

Rounding out the results for McDonald County were Adrian Ocampo, fifth, 132; Jordan Meador, fourth, 138; and, Jesus Ocampo, fifth, 182.
