Big 8 Student Art Show To Be Held In McDonald County

McDonald County School District will be hosting this exhibition for the first time since joining the Big 8. Big 8 schools include Monett, Cassville, Lamar, Mount Vernon, Aurora, Seneca and McDonald County.

This incredible event will feature the artwork of more than 1,000 local students in the Big 8 district. There will be more than 2,000 works of various media and subject matter on display representing the creative artistic talents of sixth- to eighth-grade students.

Numerous art awards will be given out for student artistic talent and originality.

"The communities of the Big 8 share an ongoing vision that art education is a crucial component of a thriving and productive society," said Holly Huber, White Rock art teacher.

The exhibition will take place at McDonald County High School's smaller gym from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 21. The event will be free and open to the public.

In addition, McDonald County's "Art on the Van Gogh" Bus will be on exhibit with high school art students serving free refreshments provided by OPAA. These students will also be offering face painting to all who are interested in supporting the McDonald County High School Art Club.

"We hope locals can come support our talented sixth- to eighth-grade students and enjoy viewing some amazing artwork!" said Huber.
