The White Rock, Pineville and Bella Vista fire departments responded to a late-night residential fire on Sunday, Nov. 12, and remained on scene until early Monday morning.

Fred Parker, assistant chief with the White Rock Fire Department, said the fire appeared to be caused by a wood stove.

"We showed up on-scene and it was just pouring out of the roof above the living room, right where that wood stove was at," Parker said.

There were no injuries, he said, and both residents who were in the building made it out safely.

The departments had to let the house go and focused on keeping the fire contained, he said, because the flames reached ammunition in the house, which could pose a threat to emergency workers.

"You want to do your best to keep away from that ammo," he said. "Once it got to that ammo, there wasn't much we could do."

Parker said he appreciated the other two departments' assistance with the fire.

"All three departments, we all came together as a team," he said.
