Five Seniors Honored for 4-Years Of Play

Five members of the 2017 McDonald County High School received four-year senior commitment awards at a banquet held May 19 at MCHS.

Jamie Hanke, Emanuel Baisch, Tyler Sellers Brandon Burt and A.J. Madewell were the five seniors who played baseball all four years while they attended MCHS.

Prior to the awards ceremony, coach Nick Martin recapped the Mustangs' 10-17 season. Martin noted that eight of McDonald County's opponents won districts championships in Missouri, Arkansas or Oklahoma.

Highlights of the season included a second place finish in the Mickey Mantle Wood Bat Tournament in Miami, Okla., and a four-game winning streak that included wins over conference opponents Mount Vernon and Seneca.

Hanke received four other awards including highest batting average (.413), most RBI's (17), Big Stick Award (3 home runs) and lowest ERA (2.04).

Rounding out the awards were Sellers, most strikeouts, 54; Baisch, most RBI's, 17 and most improved; Burt, most improved; Jordan Platter, top newcomer; and Grant Cooper, top prospect.
