SWC Changes Trash-Service Provider

Southwest City has changed trash service providers.

The City Council voted to accept a bid for service from Bernice Santitation during the April 25 meeting. The only other bid received was from Southwest Sanitation, the city's former provider.

Departmental Reports

Mayor David Blake noted the next three months will be busy in town, with a number of activities taking place. He mentioned removing limbs from the lake before the fishing derby.

Acting Public Works Director Jackie Coatney reported the Street Department installed flagpole lights at the fire station and ballpark, mowed the grass along Main Street, and removed the fence at the park -- as previously decided by the council. The department also installed one post and cable at Blankenship Park as well as two 'No Parking' signs on each side of the road near the park.

Coatney reported the Water Department changed four water meters which had false readings. He also noted the public water report has been returned and all levels are compliant with safety regulations.

City Clerk Missy Zinn adressed the council with regard to the Third of July fireworks show. The council voted to approve an additional $406.05 of fireworks in order to maintain the same performance as last year.

Zinn inquired about city sponsorship of the fishing derby. The council voted to supply worms for the derby.
