All-you-can-eat pancake tradition to benefit fire department

An all-you-can-eat pancake tradition that started more than 20 years ago is still alive today.

Folks can help out the Pineville Rural Fire Department by getting their fill of pancakes on Saturday morning.

The Pineville Grill will host its annual "all-you-can-eat pancake feed" with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice, milk and coffee.

The fundraiser will take place from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 25, at the restaurant, on the Pineville Square. Cost for the breakfast is $5.

Amy Rivard said the event started more than 20 years as a huge "thank you" to the Fire Department and the community after a fire started at the grill.

Rivard's mother-in-law, Linda Rivard, owns the restaurant. Amy recalls that a marshal happened to go by the restaurant, which was closed at the time, and noticed that something wasn't quite right.

The Pineville Fire Department responded and squelched a fire that threatened to ravage the building.

"They saved the building and there was a huge community effort to help us re-open," Rivard said.

As a thank you, the restaurant hosts the all-you-can-eat breakfast as a fundraiser for the fire department.

All proceeds will go toward the purchase of equipment.
