A Fathers Day Blessing, Yours For The Taking

Happy Fathers Day to all you wonderful fathers. We are going to try our best to tell you how to reach out and take the promises God has set for His children.

We were blessed with several songs of praise this morning. Brother Del Hunicutt and his daughter Sharon chose How Big is God, Sister Joyce Walters and daughter Angela sang Beulah Land and Brother Daniel Cartwright sang a beautiful song known by many, There is a River.

Having visitors is always a heartwarming event but when that visitor also gives Praise in song it is even better.

Brother Carl Wayne Cartwright worshiped with us this morning and sang How Great is our God. The music was so spirit filled and we all felt the Lord in a very special way. Other visitors were Vanessa Cartwright and daughter, Angela Walters Renwick and her daughter Paige.

Pastor Bob began the message with a question -- "Why do we neglect what we have access to?" He was referring to the many blessings and power God has made available to each of us who have chosen to live according to his word. We too often fail to claim victory over situations that cause us pain. Why? We are so apt to forget who we are and what promises are ours for the taking.

In Ephesians 6:10-11 we are instructed to be strong in the Lord and put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. When we begin to accept the calling God has put on our life and work to please our Father, get ready for a trial. You will not be alone but you will have to take a stand against the wicked one. In Acts 1:8 we find how we will be made overcomers. Ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me unto the uttermost part of the earth. Count it all joy when you come through a trial for this is the way God teaches us to grow.

We must be on guard, for in Luke 11:22 we are told that if we are not watching, the evil one will come and take what we have. He is ever there to cast a stumbling block in the way of those who are willing to share in the cross where our Savior was crucified. If we stay true what a great prize is ours. We will be allowed to live with our Heavenly Father forever in a home not made with hands.

In 2nd Kings chapter 6 we can be encouraged. Lay hold on those promises that are yours and find the power of his might. This account is of the great desire of the man of God to have the same spirit that he saw in his mentor. There was a battle which was so fierce that there was no way the good could be victorious. But with God the armies of the Lord came from nowhere and the enemy was overtaken. You see when you serve the Lord he will always be by your side. The outcome may not be what you want or expect but He knows what is best.

In closing, Pastor again reminded us there is a mansion waiting for those who take the stand and follow the word of our maker.

Please take time to read this portion of the scripture and find just how faithful God is. Be blessed and come worship with us at the Cove.
