Bass Pro Coming to Anderson

No, they are not building a retail store. Bass Pro Wonders of Wildlife Museum Outreach Education staff will bring native Missouri animals along with touchable artifacts to McDonald County High School on Aug. 23 as part of an Outdoor and Conservation Education event sponsored by Young Outdoorsmen United.

The event includes education stations provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Missouri Department of Conservation, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, and Department of Natural Resources. These stations cover a wide range of topics -- from bear awareness to endangered species.

The goal of the event is to introduce youth to animals of Missouri, develop an appreciation of the outdoors and conservation, plus places to visit with related outdoor topics and activities. The educational event will be in the main gym of the McDonald County High School. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. through 7 p.m. The public is invited, and admission is $1 per person.

McDonald County Senior Center

McDonald County Senior Center at 624 Johnson Drive in Noel will have music and potluck dinner starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. There will be gospel, country and bluegrass music played by the Tar Top Travelers.

Join them for an evening of fun, food and entertainment. Everyone is welcome.

Stella Senior Center

The Stella Senior Center will host a dance Friday evening, Aug. 18. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The music starts at 7, with The McDonald County Playboys band. Come and dance for $3 and enjoy a fun-filled evening. Refreshments are available. For more information, call 417-628-3314.

American Legion Benefit Dinner

Pineville/Jane American Legion Post 392 will be having the third Friday benefit dinner on Aug. 18. The dinner will be prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and will feature chicken and noodles, potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls, dessert, and drinks. Serving will start at 4:30 p.m. A donation of $7 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under is requested. Everyone is welcome, and carry-outs are available. The Legion building is located on Jessie James Road next to the Cornerstone Bank in Pineville, Mo.

Pam's Place

There will be a music show this Saturday night, Aug. 19, at Pam's Place, located at 2097 Marla Lane in Seneca, Mo. Guest band this week will be "White River Junction" from Arkansas. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at at 7 p.m. Family friendly venue; everyone is welcome.

Republican Club Meeting

The August meeting of the McDonald County Republican Club will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Pineville Community Center. Jonathan Russell, a member of the Neosho School Board, will provide an update on Goodman schools that were destroyed in the Goodman tornado. Bunker Hill Quilt Club will be hosting the meal. These meetings are a great opportunity to meet like ill-minded individuals and your local officeholders. You do not have to be a member to attend.

Mill Creek Baptist Church

Mill Creek Baptist Church of Noel will host it's annual Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 20. Special music guest will be "Spring Street," a bluegrass band from northeast Oklahoma. The morning service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by fellowship lunch and more music in the afternoon.

Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista

The community is invited to worship at a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27. Christian Education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m. A nursery attendant is available. We always welcome new friends.

Dinner Church will gather at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Fellowship Hall. An informal worship service will be followed by a salad bar supper.

Men's Fellowship will be sponsoring a Blood Drive from 10 to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, in Fellowship Hall. Please sign-up in the connector hallway. Walk-ins from the community are also welcome.
