We Should Not Forget

Prayers requests were taken, and praise reports were given. Please remember to pray for friends, family and our church.

New visitors were welcomed and greeted during our handshake song, "I Am Resolved." Will you come and be our visitor?

Associate Pastor Ryan Crawford opened the service with the reading of God's word from Psalms 103:1-10.

Our lesson was titled "We Should Not Forget."

"I am somewhat forgetful," Pastor Crawford admitted. "My wife would say I'm very forgetful. Truth is we often forget things. Some are really not that important, but some things are super important. This Psalm is all about remembering God. C.H. Spurgean (great preacher of old) said about this Psalms: 'We tend to write our blessings in the sand and carve are complaints in marble.' What he meant was that we are quick to forget the blessing but very quick to bring up our complaints to God. We should always bring the good things up to the devil when he tempts you to think about your complaints."

"Some things we should remember and store away are that the benefits of God's personal demonstration are he saved me, satisfied me, and strengthens me." "For myself, I like how God bless you but I need to remember what God has done for me: He saved me!" "I'm not going to hell!" We should be thankful for our clothes, food, shelter, parents, children, friends, and our possessions, but one day all of those things will be gone, then what? We have to have a tender heart for something, such as: a permanent home and a thirst after our savior. What is the greatest thing God has done for you? If that doesn't excite you or get you to remember God, if you are saved, you have everything to rejoice about and nothing to complain about! Do you know if you're saved?

Psalms 103:5 five tells us, "Who redeemeth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Do you remember the story of the woman at the well? She was never satisfied. But Jesus said, "I'll save you and satisfy you." He gives us a purpose. Not just prominent, but preeminent. He gives you life more abundantly.

Pastor Crawford said, "A Christian once told me 'I would be a Christian even if there was no heaven.' Some people say that you'll miss out. Oh! Yes, I'll miss the sorrow, shame, sickness, sex, blowing my money, getting drunk, going to jail! I'm glad I've missed out!" You say, 'Well, you don't know you would do that.' A life without Christ is out of control!

"For example, most of our congregation knows how much I love Mountain Dew! As much as I love it, it never satisfies me. Oh, it tastes good and I like it, but if it satisfied me I wouldn't need to keep drinking it!

"He gives me strength. Isaiah 40:30-31 tell us, 'Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.'"

"I know that I'm young, but I'm getting older. There have been times I've been tired. You also may have been tired and you think is this ever going to end. Have you ever felt like you are never going to make it to school or find a job, keep a job, find a girl- or boyfriend, get married, find your place in church? Be faithful in your Bible reading and prayer and serving God. Just remember what God has done for you and it strengthens you to continue."

Are you struggling, weary, tired, not sure or confused? Our Bible is a public declaration with benefits. It is to help us. You can draw strength from the stories. David and Goliath -- moral: I can do all. David and Bathsheba -- moral: forgiveness. The Creation: How big God is.

The Bible is our daily bread, yet we are starving. If your life is not anchored in this Book, your life will not be right.

"While going to Bible College," Pastor Crawford told us, "I received a statement that said 'Paid in full -- Signed, Anonymous.' I then posted that card in view and wrote on it 'God will take care of you!'"

The benefit of a patient disposition is His mercy. The only way He can relate to us is mercy. We are so far incomparable to God!

"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. His being slow to anger tells us He is patient with us. We all deserve hell and to be destroyed, but mercy was extended.

In Washington D.C., the Washington Monument is the highest point. When the cornerstone of the Monument was laid on July 4, 1848, deposited within it were many items, including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. On the east point of the monument is "Laus Deo" or "Praise be to God."

Have you read your Bible today? If not read, Romans 8:28.
