The May meeting of the Noel Woman's Club was called to order with 11 present. Wilma Rhodes, a former member, who is visiting family, was welcomed to the meeting. Linda Jefferson reported on her presentation of the scholarships at the Senior Awards Night at MCSH. Scholarships this year were awarded to Ana Rosales and Marlene Vergara. Congratulations to them and thank you to all the girls that applied. It is always a difficult decision as there are so many deserving girls.
Minutes were read and approved after roll call was taken. Birthdays recognized for the month were Linda and Gail.
The bake sale was a success and thanks to Harps for allowing use of the area in front of their building.
There is a beautiful new cover on the shelter at the cemetery. A very special thank you to Ron Saunders for donating the roof and putting it on.
The Woman's Club received the "Most Helpful Award" at the Noel Senior dinner recently. It was passed around for all to see.
Members signed up to sit at the Noel Cemetery and accept donations for the upkeep of the cemetery during Memorial Day weekend. If people are unable to make it to the cemetery this year or miss the Noel Woman's Club representative, donations can be mailed to the Noel Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 905, Noel, MO 64854.
Amber Meador was the guest speaker. She presented a fun program on fingernail care and gave goodie bags with nail supplies.
Hostess for the evening was Gail Francisco, who had decorated in a red, white and blue theme. She provided refreshments of Mexican tacos and burritos along with several other Mexican foods, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
The next meeting will be June 7. It is the summer potluck dinner and will be at 6:30. p.m As always, new members are welcome.
