S.A.F.E.-- Seatbelts Are For Everyone -- is a student-led, safe-driving organization that promotes and educates youth on the importance of wearing a seatbelt any time they are in a vehicle, whether behind the wheel or a passenger. In addition to seatbelt safety, the group encourages safe driving through distracted-driving simulations, posters, monthly pledge cards and drawings for $25 gift cards, and public service announcements. McDonald County High School is the pilot school for the state of Missouri to measure the impact and success of such a program.
During an assembly on Tuesday, Feb. 23, the McDonald County S.A.F.E. team presented local community and business members with plaques in appreciation of their monetary donations and involvement in promoting the safety of McDonald County students. Without their generosity, time, and support this program would not be able to function.
