Volleyball Squad Warms Up For Season Opener

The McDonald County Lady Mustangs volleyball team swept Diamond and Monett while splitting with Seneca at a pre-season jamboree held Aug. 16 at Diamond High School.

McDonald County defeated Diamond 15-10, 15-10 to open the scrimmage. In the first game, the Lady Mustangs jumped out to an 8-3 lead before Diamond rallied to cut the deficit 11-9. McDonald County scored four out the game's final five points for the win.

In the second game, the Lady Mustangs trailed 2-0 before scoring five straight points for a 5-2 lead. The teams battled evenly until McDonald County, leading 11-9, again scored four out the game's final five points to complete the sweep.

Lauren Goff had six kills and Lindsey Limore had four to lead McDonald County. Bailey Rickett added three kills, two service points, two aces and five digs while Destiny Arnall had three kills.

Seneca defeated McDonald County 15-13 in the first game before McDonald County evened the match with a 15-11 win in the second.

Seneca jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the first game and maintained the margin until Arnall recorded five consecutive service points to cut the Lady Indians' lead to 13-12 before Seneca scored two of the next three points to hold on for the win.

McDonald County broke an 8-8 tie with three consecutive points and cruised to a 15-11 win in the second game.

Arnall finished with eight service points while Limore had seven kills to lead McDonald County. Goff had 10 digs and Alex Gross had six and Rickett four. Rickett's two kills were high for the Lady Mustangs.

Monett and McDonald County traded points in the first game until the Lady Mustangs scored six out the game's final seven points to claim a 15-11 victory. In the second game, McDonald County took an early 6-1 lead and cruised to a 15-7 win.

Rickett and Limore had two kills each while Arnall had five service points and Rickett four to lead the Lady Mustangs. Goff added four digs and Hollie Garvin had three. Rickett had four service points and Ember Killion had two.

McDonald County opened the regular season on Aug. 23 by hosting Jasper. On Aug. 25, Bentonville visits McDonald County before the Lady Mustangs travel to the Branson Tournament on Saturday.
