Junior High Baseball Thumps Grove

The McDonald County junior high baseball team beat Grove Red 6-3 on April 12 in Grove.

Logan Renner got the win in one inning of relief of Eli Habert, who went the first three innings, allowing two earned runs on one hit. Koby McAlister worked the fifth inning for the save.

Omar Manuel and Sampson Boles both went two for three to lead the offense. McAlister, Kameron Hopkins, Cade Smith, Jackson Behm and Oscar Ortiz added one hit each.

Grove White claimed a 12-3 win in the second game of the doubleheader. Jackson Clarkson took the loss for the Mustangs on the mound.

McKoy Ikosia and Marvin Iohp had the only two McDonald County hits while Raysean Corbit, Cory Creason and Colliar Gottfried scored the Mustang runs.

Jay

Jay swept a doubleheader on April 14 at MCHS.

The Bulldogs won the opener 14-2. Cade Smith started and went two innings for the loss, while Ortiz pitched a pair of scoreless innings. McAlister lead the offense with two hits while Hopkins and Trent Alik had one each.

Jay claimed a 10-1 win in the nightcap. Ethan Francisco pitched the first inning and took the loss. Josh Parsons threw two innings and Austin Manwiller pitched one.

Renner scored the Mustangs lone run.

Hollister

The Mustangs split a doubleheader at Hollister on Saturday, beating Hollister 2-1 and dropping a 7-3 decision to Strafford.

McAlister got the win against Hollister, allowing one run on two hits in four innings. Smith worked the fifth inning for the save.

Behm led the offense with a pair of hits while Hopkins, Iohp and Alik all had one hit.

Behm took the loss against Strafford, allowing seven runs in four innings.

Manuel had two hits to lead the offense. McAlister, Smith, Ailk and Iohp all had one hit.

The Mustangs were at Rogers Providence on Tuesday before traveling to Grove on Saturday for the Grove Festival.
