Groff leads Mustangs golfers

Jeremiah Groff shot a 97 at the Joplin Invitational on April 7 at Twin Hills Country Club to lead the McDonald County High School golf team.

Groff fired nines of 48 and 49 over the par 72 layout. Rounding out the results for McDonald County were Kole Keith 113, Tim Shields 127 and Nathan Knadle 132.

The Mustangs shot a team total of 469. Springfield Glendale won the tournament with a team score of 309, beating second place Logan-Rogersville by 17 strokes.

Glendale took the top three spots in the race for individual honors. Sam Holmes and Chase Gafner tied for medalist honors with 4-over-par 76s while teammate Christopher Obert shot a 77.

McDonald County hosted Neosho and Carl Junction at Elk River Golf Course in Noel on April 12 before traveling to Carthage on April 18 for the Sonic Invitational.
