Christ's Cross Points Direction For Mankind

Molly LeeMasters was celebrating a birthday and special prayers were requested for Steve Holly, Amber Lemonds and the Dennis Boyd family as we gathered to worship Sunday at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Wayne Johnson opened our service with prayer and Linda Abercrombie led us in the responsive reading "The Family of God." We are blessed to have a wonderful church family at Mill Creek.

Mitchell Lett asked God's blessing upon our tithes and offerings and he and Tyrel Lett served as ushers as Becky Johnson played the piano. We enjoyed several specials as Jimmy Easter played "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" on the banjo, Bob Obenshain sang "In The Garden," Karen Gardner and Wayne sang "I'll Be List'ning," and Jim LeeMasters played the guitar and sang special songs including "The Lighthouse."

Brother Tom Sharp filled in at the pulpit for Brother Mark who was in revival in Cassville. The text for Sunday's message was from Philippians 2:5-8 as Brother Tom talked about the cross of Christ which points the direction for mankind. Brother Tom told us we must make a decision where we want our future to be after life on earth.

"We can go to heaven and spend eternity with God or we can go to hell and spend eternity with Satan." He showed us a few things for the lost to consider and told us only God can penetrate the heart of the unbeliever. As Brother Tom talked about the way the cross points, he told us if we look up and acknowledge and accept Jesus Christ as our savior we can spend eternity in heaven. But if we deny Jesus Christ, the cross points down to hell.

Brother Tom told us "The cross is a road block and everyone will come upon the cross and have to make a decision to follow Christ or deny Him. Don't gamble with your life. We don't have a promise for tomorrow." Proverbs 27:1 says Do not boast about tomorrow. For you do not know what a day may bring forth.

Brother Tom told us "You have two choices. The cross points up to heaven or down to hell. God has a great love for us. Jesus died for all of us equally. To get to Heaven, we only have to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our personal savior who covered our sins. He arose that we might understand. Jesus Christ has the power to raise us up as well.

These acts of love for us by Jesus should not be hard for us. We only have to acknowledge and accept by faith. He loves us that much. Satan also has a place for all that want to come with him. It is easy to get to hell when you deny Jesus. Hell is a place of eternal torment that doesn't stop. If you are lost, don't be too proud to ask God to be your Savior. Will pride cause you to not accept Christ as your Savior?"

"Jesus Paid It All" was our hymn of invitation and Brother Tom gave the benediction.

We invite you to worship with us at Mill Creek Baptist Church. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome. Mill Creek is located 3½ miles east of Noel just off Highway 90.
