There will Be A Reunion In The Clouds

Jonquils adorned the alter and reminded us of the beginning of a new season. Wayne Johnson greeted the congregation and special prayers were requested for Kenneth White, Beverly, Kristen Crosby, Mrs. Gardner, Carol and Darrell Armstrong, Mrs. Womack, Debbie, John, Dale and Lavonne.

Becky and Wayne Johnson and Karen Gardner led our song service and we were blessed with special music from Bob Obenshain, Jerry Abercrombie and Karen. Tyrel Lett asked God's blessing and he and Mitchell Lett served as offertory attendants.

Bro. Tom Sharp filled in at the pulpit for Bro. Mark as he talked about life after death and read lyrics from an old song, "I Will Not Be A Stranger." Scripture for Bro. Tom's sermon was taken from Job 14:14-15 which says, "If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait, till my change comes. You shall call, and I will answer You; You shall desire the work of Your hands."

Bro. Tom began by asking the congregation, "Is there really life after this one? We must have that hope. Job had assurance he would live again." Scripture reference Job 19:25-27, "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. How my heart yearns within me," as Job talks about 'My Redeemer Lives.'

Bro. Tom said, "The New Testament assures us of the same as the Old Testament of life after death. The resurrection is proof of life after death. The Bible teaches us that we will be raised again to meet Jesus Christ. Will our physical appearance be the same? It will be fashioned like a glorified body." Bro. Tom referred to I Corinthians 15:35-50 as Verse 49 says, "And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly man."

Bro. Tom suggested for our daily Bible study this week that we read and study about a glorious body in Isaiah. As he talked about the Lord's return, Bro. Tom said, "I believe that we will recognize people and our loved ones in Heaven. I Thessalonians 4:13-18 adds assurance that the Lord will return. There will be a reunion -- a bringing together of people -- in the clouds. Be assured we will know one another. Why would God bring us together to be strangers. God wants joy and happiness for all. Hell was built for the devil and the only reason man gets there is because he chooses to. You have another choice and that is God's Heaven where friends and loves ones will meet you. Romans 6:23 says, 'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.'"

Our hymn of invitation was "Amazing Grace " and Bro. Tom gave the benediction as he prayed that all souls are in tune with God.
