Conservation Department Cost-Share Opportunities

Ever thought about fencing your livestock out of the timber or even maybe managing it? Well, this might be the time. The Missouri Conservation Department has designated the Elk River Watershed as a Priority Forest Landscape. This area covers the watershed from Pineville upstream into Barry County.

Cost-share reimbursement are available to private landowners who are engaged in forestry related conservation work. Practices such as forested riparian buffer, forest stand improvement, invasive species control, wildlife habitat improvement, and fencing may be eligible for cost-sharing on private lands.

To determine which may best suit your needs, contact Missouri Department of Conservation Private Land Conservationist Mike Petersen, 417-847-5949, ext. 6084. Mike Petersen is the Missouri Department of Conservation Private Land Conservationist for Barry, McDonald and Newton counties.
