God Can Change You

The congregation and guests were welcomed for worship by liturgist Larry Hybl, and announcements for the week were made. A birthday was celebrated for Anna Abercrombie, Bertha Nichols was recognized for her 90th birthday, and Jim and Joan Stauber celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Patti Carroll played the prelude for worship as Lily Allman and Megan Elwood lit the altar candles.

The congregation sang "He is Lord" and "Holy, Holy, Holy," accompanied by Patti on the clavinova and the orchestra.

Joys were shared by Sharon Williams for time spent with friends at horse camp, and Doris Field shared granddaughter J.J. Stephens' recent experience providing CPR for an accident victim, and her upcoming graduation with her Doctor of Nursing degree. Prayer was requested for Freda Penn, Lewis Davis, Linda Thornton, Michael Hanson, Matt, and Janet Britton's nephew. Pastor Mary Lou led the congregation in prayer.

Larry read the scripture lesson, from 1st Timothy 1:12-17.

The music special was by the adult choir, directed by Linda Hybl, singing "God Reigns Medley."

Mary Lou's message to the congregation was about Paul's writing to Timothy. Paul wrote about how generous and gracious our Lord is. Paul had been a relentless persecutor of Christians, but God changed him and filled his heart with love and faith. God can change us, as he changed Paul. God has great patience with even the worst sinners. God takes people away from sin, cleans their hearts, and fills them with love. Mary Lou asked the congregation to share who God is to us. God is our Savior, our heart, and our everything!

The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art," followed by Mary Lou's benediction to close the worship service.
