Both the McDonald County Mustangs and Lady Mustangs will go into the Class 4, District 12 Basketball Tournament at Webb City High School with a target on their back.
McDonald County received the tournament's top seed in the boys and girls brackets. Both squads earned a first round bye.
Boys Bracket
The Mustangs were followed in the seedings by former Southwest Conference rivals Webb City and Carthage. Current Big 8 Conference foes Carl Junction, Monett and Cassville round out the field.
The boys begin play at 7 p.m. in the tourney semifinals on Thursday, March 5, taking on the winner of Carl Junction and Monett. The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
Girls Bracket
Carl Junction grabbed the number two seed in the girls bracket followed by Webb City, Carthage, Cassville and Monett.
The Lady Mustangs open tournament play at 4 p.m. in a semifinal contest on Thursday, March 5 against the winner of Carthage and Cassville. The championship game is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7.
