GALENA -- One of the best ways a livestock or dairy producer can improve available grass for cattle in pastures is to attend a Management Intensive Grazing school. Thousands of producers have attended these schools, and most attendees will say that it changed the way they think about grazing cattle.
An upcoming opportunity to attend a MiG school is in from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 16 -18 at the Christian Church community center in Crane.
"This three-day school will focus on forage options, fencing and watering systems. Sessions will also address pasture fertility, cattle nutrition, wildlife systems, grazing management and economics of the MiG system," said Tim Schnakenberg, agronomy specialist with University of Missouri Extension.
There are nine presenters who will be addressing every aspect of grazing systems.
The program fee covers the cost of all sessions, two farm tours, lunch, and printed materials.
There is a fee to attend, and participants must preregister by Sept. 4 to reserve a seat.
It is important that attendees preregister early since there is a limited number of participants for the classes.
