MCHS Earns First At ROTC Drill Meet

The McDonald county High School JROTC drill team finished the recent session at the Regional Drill Meet in Tulsa, Okla. with another first place performance.

McDonald County brought home the first place trophy in the Unarmed Regulation event, led by Nikki Long, and a second place in the Exhibition with Rifles, led by Rebecca Fritzler. Both events were close to perfect, with a score to match.

This was the biggest meet of the year and the last of the 2015 season. A total of 21 schools from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma area competed. McDonald County's JROTC program competed in the sweepstakes division, competing in all competitive categories.

In other events, McDonald County was just outside the medal rounds, losing out to some very good JROTC programs. The Color Guard, led by Francisco Gonzalez, had 303 points out of 310 and the Regulation with Rifles, led by Michaela King, had 309 points out of 315. Both teams just missed placing in the competition.

This completes a very successful 2015 JROTC drill team schedule. Thank you to all the parents and boosters who helped the JROTC program throughout the year.
