Gary Stewart, 71, of Stella, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 25, 1949, in Southwest City, Mo., to Durwood and Rosa Lee (Litchfield) Stewart. He retired from the Navy in 1992 and had many occupations throughout his life. He valued living a simple life, spending his time gardening, singing at church, playing scrabble, journaling, and in his earlier years, ballroom skating. He treasured being outdoors, watching the wildlife around his home, and taking walks in the woods with his dogs.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha (Marty) Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; his adopted daughter, Katherine Neraasen of Brooksfield, Fla.; his brother, Stanley Stewart (Debbie) of Rocky Comfort, Mo.; and sisters, Sandra Smith (James), Julia Eldred both of Anderson, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Sumler officiating. Open visitation for family and friends will be from 11 a.m. until service time.
