The boys' and girls' basketball teams from McDonald County High School gave the public its first view of the 2020-2021 Mustangs and Lady Mustangs at a scrimmage on Nov. 13 at MCHS.
The Lady Mustangs took the floor first.
The first two quarters were the junior varsity and freshman, followed by the varsity.
In the varsity scrimmage, Samara Smith, Caitlynn Barton and Natalie Gillming each scored six points to lead the red team to a 31-12 win over the black team.
Reagan Myrick added five points for the red team. Sydney Killion and Nevaeh Dodson added four each.
The black team was led by Adasyn Leach and Abbigail Wiseman, with four points each, while Laney Wilson and Kristin Penn had two each.
In the boys' varsity scrimmage, Dalton McClain hit five three-pointers to lead the red team to a 44-38 win over the white team.
In addition to Dalton McClain's 15 points, older brother Eli McClain had 10. Rounding out the scoring for the red team were Pierce Harmon and Jackson Clarkson with six points each, Israel Marcos with five and Colton Ruddick with two.
Garrett Gricks scored 10 points to lead the white team, followed by Levi Malone with seven, Trent Alik and Sterling Woods with six each, Isaac Behm five and Teddy Reedybacon and Weston Gordon two each.
The Lady Mustangs open their season on Nov. 24 at Aurora.
The boys' team is in Joplin on Nov. 19 for a jamboree with Joplin, Neosho and Lamar. They open their season for real on Dec. 7 at Pea Ridge.
