Pineville Board Appoints James Deal

The Pineville board of aldermen met via conference call Tuesday night, due to the coronavirus threat. The city has closed all of its buildings to the public.

The agenda was short, even though the body had not met since March 3.

Mayor Gregg Sweeten asked the board to appoint James Deal to the housing authority board. Deal is a tenant at the housing authority apartments, Sweeten said. The board approved Sweeten's recommendation. Then Sweeten, who was participating in the call from Pineville City Hall, left the phone and went to the back door of the building to administer the oath of office to Deal, who was waiting outside.

In other business, the board approved two sets of bills: One from Feb. 11-25 for $19,192 and one from Feb. 26-March 20 for $48,502.

Following these business items, the board went into a closed session.
