McDonald County Commission Minutes

May 27

• Paige Behm, with the McDonald County Health Department, and Gregg Sweeten, with McDonald County Emergency Management, updated Commissioners on covid-19 in the county.

• Commissioners accepted the following bids on county equipment:

- 1994 Ford F-250, winning proposal of $539 from Dewayne Milton

- 1991 Dodge Ram 2500, winning proposal of $400 from Kyle Sherman

- 1994 Chevy pickup, winning proposal of $50 from Robert Sherman

- 1990 Ford F-900, winning proposal of $1,000 from Grant Merriman

- 1991 International 10-wheeler dump truck, winning proposal of $2,000 from Travis Bracht

• Commissioner David Holloway abstained from the vote to accept the following bids:

- 1997 John Deere brush hog 6400, winning proposal of $511 from Nathan Clark

- 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, winning proposal of $50 from Nathan Clark.

• The Commission signed and approved accounts payable in the amount of $432,282.36.

June 1

• Paige Behm and Gregg Sweeten gave Commissioners an update on covid-19 in McDonald County.

June 3

• The Commission met with municipal mayors of the county, individually, at set times, to discuss the process of requesting reimbursements for covid-19 related expenses under the CARES Act. At the time of their meeting, each mayor was given a packet with the appropriate forms and instructions to request reimbursement. Mayors who met with the Commission are as follows:

- Gregg Sweeten, Pineville Mayor

- Lewis Davis, Noel Mayor

- J.R. Fischer, Goodman Mayor

- Stan Haywood, Lanagan Mayor

- David Blake, Southwest City Mayor

• Additional meetings with the remaining municipal mayors are scheduled for June 8 at alternating times.

• Commissioners received bids for a salt storage building at the Road and Bridge Department in Longview. Heartland Structures, Legacy Building Solutions and Farm Tech submitted bids. The Commission unanimously voted to accept the bid from Heartland Structures.

June 8

• Paige Behm and Gregg Sweeten gave Commissioners an update on covid-19 in McDonald County, notably the increase in positive cases. The McDonald County Health Department has tested approximately 1,000 citizens of the county to date.

• MoDot representatives Laura Campbell and Matt Geiger met with the Commission to discuss bridge inspections and recommendations on necessary repairs.

• The Commission met with Rusty Wilson, Anderson's mayor-elect, to discuss the process of requesting reimbursements for covid-19 related expenses under the CARES Act. Wilson was given a packet with the appropriate forms and instructions to request reimbursement.

June 10

• Paige Behm and Gregg Sweeten gave Commissioners an update on covid-19 in McDonald County. Currently, McDonald County has had a total of 53 positive cases.

• Commissioners discussed current Courthouse operations. Based on the upward trend of positive covid-19 cases in McDonald County, the Commission decided to continue county business as it is currently. Courthouse doors will remain locked to the public and curbside services will be conducted as needed. All employees will have temperatures checked prior to being allowed to enter any county building. These protocols will remain in effect until further notice. Commissioners will revisit the issue in two weeks, or sooner if needed.

• The Commission signed and approved accounts payable in the amount of $276,526.45.
