JV Mustangs Take Logan-Rogersville, 12-8

The McDonald County High School junior varsity football team took a 12-0 lead at halftime and held on in the second half for a 12-8 win over Logan-Rogersville on Sept. 9 at MCHS.

After a scoreless first quarter, McDonald County got on the scoreboard with 6:04 left in the first half on a two-yard run by Colton Ruddick. Ruddick's 17-yard pass to Weston Gordon set up the score.

McDonald County added a touchdown with just 29.8 seconds left in the first half when Danny Grider returned a blocked punt seven yards for a touchdown.

Logan-Rogersville cut the lead to 12-8 with 4:18 left in the third quarter on a 45-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion.

The Wildcats appeared to be going in for the go-ahead score early in the fourth quarter, but Micha Looney intercepted a pass inside the McDonald County 20-yard line to stop the drive.

Logan-Rogersville had one more chance, but the McDonald county defense held on downs before the Mustangs ran out the clock for the win.

McDonald County's next game is Sept. 18 at East Newton.
