Not only did Lily Allman earn a trip to state with a top 12 finish at the Missouri Class 2 Girls Golf Sectional 3 Championships held Oct. 14 at Hoots Hollow at Center Creek in Pleasant Hill, the McDonald County junior beat the entire 50-player field.

Allman fired a seven-over-par 79 to edge Wriley Hiebert of Glendale by one stroke for the sectional title. Hiebert's teammate, Halle Jungman, and Jenna Teeter of Carl Junction tied for third with 81s.

Glendale won the team title with a 331 total, while Ozark edged Carthage 365-368 for the second team berth for the state tournament.

This is the second year for Allman to qualify for state. At last year's tournament on a rain-soaked Swope Memorial Golf Course in Kansas City, Allman shot a two-day total of 177 to tie for 40th place.

This year's state tournament is set for Oct. 21-22 at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.
