Destyn Dowd hit Tucker Walters with a 58-yard touchdown pass with 39 seconds left to lift the McDonald County eighth grade to a 12-8 win over Lamar on Sept. 26 at McDonald County High School.

The game was limited to two quarters due to Lamar only having 13 players.

Lamar jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter before McDonald County got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter.

Dowd and Walters teamed up for a five-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 12-6 with 6:29 left, setting the stage for late-game heroics.

Seventh Grade

The McDonald County seventh grade fell behind 46-0 at halftime before dropping a 52-6 decision.

Trey Hardin scored the Mustangs' touchdown on a two-yard run.

McDonald County's next game is on Oct. 3 at East Newton High School.
