Stella Senior Center Dinner, Dance

The Stella Senior Center will host a dinner and dance, with dinner beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, serving a breakfast buffet. The dance will start at 7 p.m., with The McDonald County Country Band. There will be a cover charge of $5 for the dance. Refreshments are available all evening. Call 417-628-3314 for information.

American Legion Benefit Dinner

Pineville-Jane American Legion Post 392 will host its third Friday Benefit Dinner, with serving to begin at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 15. The dinner will be prepared by the Ladies Auxiliary and feature pork tenderloin, potatoes, vegetable, salad, rolls, dessert and drinks. A donation of $7 for adults and $5 for children (10 and under) is requested. All are welcome and carry outs are available. The Legion Building is located on Jesse James Road in Pineville, next to the Cornerstone Bank.

White Rock Fire Department Open House

The White Rock Fire Department is hosting an open house for the public from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. A limited number of free smoke detectors will be given away. There will be information available on the fire district, fun for the family and fire safety tips for all who attend. The department invites the community to learn and love the brave volunteer firefighters as they fight to keep the community safe, so stop by and see their house.

Noel Senior Center Dinner and Dance

The McDonald County Senior Center will host a potluck dinner and dance beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Senior Center located at 624 Johnson Drive in Noel. Music will be provided by "The Tar Top Travelers." For additional information, contact Louine Gardner at 417-475-3511.

McDonald County Library Book Sale

The McDonald County Library Book Sale will be held in the community room of the Main Library, located in Pineville, 808 Bailey Road. The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, and Friday, Feb. 15, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. On Thursday, select items will be half-price. Friday and Saturday, customers will be able to fill an entire bag for only a dollar. Bargains abound at this sale, with hardcover books, $1; children's hardcover books, 50 cents; softcover books (trade paperbacks), 50 cents; mass market paperbacks for children or adults, 25 cents; DVDs, $2; CDs, $2; audiobooks on CD, $2; audio-books on cassette, $1; and coffee table and specialty books priced as marked. All of the money raised will be used to support the work of the Library during 2019. This is a community event and library staff and volunteers work hard to sort, organize and promote the sale. Evangelical Singer Performs

Singer evangelist Terry Campbell will appear at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at Banner Church of the Nazarene, located at 597 North Fork Road, Anderson. There is no charge for admission, but an offering will be taken. For more information, call 417-364-7461.

Property Tax Assistance

The McDonald County Senior Center will have property tax credit assistance provided by Economic Security to help with filing from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesdays, Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20, at 624 Johnson Drive, Noel. You will need Mo.CRP; Verification of Rent Paid; SSA-1099, RRB-1099 or SSI statement; 2018 paid real estate receipts or personal property tax receipts; disabled veteran documentation/Power of Attorney or Federal form 1210 and death certificate. McDonald County Free Income Tax Assistance

The McDonald County Chamber of Commerce is providing the location for free income tax assistance from the IRS. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program has returned to McDonald County at a new location and time. Federal and state income tax returns and property tax credit forms will be prepared by trained volunteers at the Anderson Community Room, 929 N. U.S. 71 Business Highway (next to Tatum Tractor), from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, from Feb. 4 to March 26 and April 9. There will be no service on April 2 due to election day. Appointments are not taken; it's walk-in service only.

Noel Senior Center Hosts Inside Sale

The McDonald County Senior Center is having an inside rummage sale Thursday through Saturday, March 7, 8, and 9. All donations are welcome and proceeds go to March National Nutrition month for the homebound meal program. Please contact Louine Gardner at 417-475-3511 for more information.
