Margaret Ann Spurling Brown, 74, of Southwest City, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

She was born Oct. 20,1944, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Mary and Everette Spurling. She was married in 1959 to Marland Brown. She was a homemaker and a childcare provider who cared for many children. She enjoyed cooking and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Everette (Junior) Spurling; and great-grandson, Ryder Tanner.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Brown, Barbara Tanner, Julia Christian; a son, Jerry Brown; six grandchildren; and five siblings, George Spurling, Ivan Gurule, Martin Gurule, Elizabeth Gurule and Dan Gurule.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at the Full Gospel Church in Southwest City.

Kevin Randall Durbin

Kevin Randall Durbin, 56, of Anderson, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.

He was born Sept. 8, 1962, in Neosho, Mo., to Ralph and Ethel Durbin. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1980 graduate of McDonald County High School. He worked in the field of railroad salvage for more than 25 years and enjoyed racecars and spending time on his farm. He attended New Bethel Church in Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two sisters, Janice Durbin of Fulton, Mo., and Norma Farmer (Lanny) of Pineville, Mo.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Ozark Funeral Home of Anderson is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Barbara Jean Herrin

Barbara Jean Herrin, 85, passed away Nov. 26, 2018, at her Goodman home.

She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in McNatt, Mo., to Bion F. and Ferne (Ferguson) Tennison. Barbara was a lifelong resident of the Goodman area. She worked as a teller for Goodman State Bank and as secretary for Goodman Baptist Church. She had been a member of Goodman Baptist Church since 1946, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and working in the church library. Barbara had held a pilot's license since 1970. She and Calvin Herrin were married in Bentonville, Mo., on Aug. 9, 1950; he survives.

Barbara is also survived by her son, Stephen Herrin and wife, Jean of Neosho; one grandson, Sam; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison, and Colton; a sister, Pat Tennison of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Tennison and a sister, Maxine Vandergruff.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Goodman Baptist Church, with Pastor James Townsend officiating. Interment will follow at Howard Cemetery, Goodman, with Sam Herrin, Austin Herrin, Colton Herrin, Isaac Townsend, Doug Widener and Darin Widener serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Contributions in honor of Barbara may be made to Goodman Baptist Church, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.

Ted Perry

Ted Perry, 89, of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Noel, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 23, 2018.

He was born in Noel, at a cottage known as Pinecrest, June 14, 1929, to Claude and Elsie Perry. He married Ernestine "Ernie" Medcalf Dec. 7, 1951. The Perry family dates back to the late 1800s as residents of Noel. After Noel High School, he moved to Tulsa, Okla., taking a job with Douglas Aircraft for over 50 years, which eventually took him to Williamsburg. He enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and Chet Atkins. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Noel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Samuel A. Wallace; brother, Kenneth Perry; and sister, Daisy Manning.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Elsie Ernestine Perry; daughter, S. Michele Wallace (Neil); grandson, Lt. Michael P. Wallace (Katie); granddaughter, Tyler Anne Wallace; and sisters, Ruth Briggs, Tess Ann Sugarman, Mertie Harmon.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Noel Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, in the funeral home chapel.
