Junior High Season Ends

The McDonald County junior high baseball teams closed out their 2018 season by splitting games on April 28 at the Hollister/Strafford Festival.

The eighth grade claimed a 6-2 win over previously-undefeated Strafford behind the pitching of Lee Sohse and Eli Jackson.

Sohse went four innings to get the win before Jackson relieved in the fifth to get the final three outs.

Levi Helm, Matthew Mora, Bo Leach, Junior Eliam and Sohse all had one hit to lead the offense. Leach drove in two runs while Sohse scored two runs.

The seventh grade dropped a 2-1 decision to Hollister.

Weston Gordon went the distance to take the loss.

Sammy Heruth had three hits to lead the offense, while Braxton Spears, Isaac Behm, Jackson Parnell and Gordon had one hit each.

Neosho

The McDonald County eighth grade defeated Neosho 10-3 on April 27 at Neosho High School.

Wyatt Jordon started and went an inning and two-thirds before Wyatt Habert, Eli Jackson and Brandon Armstrong took turns on the mound to clinch the win.

Dylan Igisomar and Matthew Mora had two hits each, while Eliam had a hit and three RBIs. Levi Malone, Helm, Martin and Sohse added a hit each.

In the seventh-grade game, the teams battled to a 6-6 tie. Spears went the distance for the Mustangs on the mound.

Heruth had two hits, while Spears, Gordon, Behm and Parnell all had one hit each.
