Stella Senior Center Dance Feb. 9

s The Stella Senior Center will host a dance on Friday, Feb. 9. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the dance starts at 7 p.m. with "Evelyn and The Outriders." There is a cover charge of $4. There will be a potato bar, and refreshments are available all evening. For more information, call 417-628-3314.

Hug a Tree Hike Feb. 17

s Big Sugar Creek State Park will hold a 3.1-mile hike on the Ozark Chinquapin Trail beginning at 10 a.m. (at the Ozark Chinquapin Trailhead kiosk) Saturday, Feb. 17. This hike is moderately difficult due to distance and rocky, uneven terrain. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring water and snacks. It is free and open to the public. Big Sugar Creek State Park is located six miles east of Pineville on Big Sugar Creek Road in McDonald County. Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri Tribe Meeting Feb. 17

s The Cherokee of Arkansas and Missouri Tribe District #10 will meet at the Joplin Public Library, 1901 E. 20 Street, Joplin, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17. All District #10 elected officials should attend. Membership/voter cards which members have not picked up in the past should be available at the meeting. Attendees receiving cards should plan to sign a receipt for the card. To reduce confusion, turn in any old card in possession as they will not be acceptable for ID. Visitors are welcome to attend. New Bethel School Preservation Association Benefit Dinner Feb. 18

s A benefit lasagna dinner, hosted by the New Bethel School Preservation Association, will be served at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18. Donations are welcome. The dinner will follow the morning worship service at Banner Church of the Nazarene, 597 North Fork Road in Anderson. Proceeds will be used for the repair of plaster in the interior of the school. Church service is at 10:30 a.m. and dinner will begin after service. For more information, call 417-845-6855.
