Christmas Train Coming To Goodman

Goodman Mayor Greg Richmond announced to all present at the City Council meeting Tuesday that the Christmas Train will be stopping in Goodman on Dec. 14.

The celebrated train will be in Goodman from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., next to the fire barn.

Richmond asked the council for their input regarding Richard and Nancy Kautz's plans to build a house in the Shea Subdivision. There were questions and concerns, therefore, Richmond tabled the issue until the next council meeting to give the council members time to observe the area of the proposed house.

Richmond completed a second reading of Ordinance No. 2016-482 regarding a form of application fee; that it shall be in writing and shall be submitted in the form on file in the city offices and shall be accompanied by a fee of $10. Council approved the ordinance.

Richmond completed a second reading of Ordinance No. 2016-483 regarding the building inspector fee. A fee of $100 for inspection fees on new construction shall accompany the application. Partial inspection fees of $25 per inspection may be charged on remodeling or repairing of structures or re-inspections by the building inspector. The building inspector has the authority to request an additional $25 for each and every inspection above the inspection fee of $100 on new construction or $25 for partial inspections. The building inspector will be required to notify the landowner/contractor and City Hall prior to the charging of additional fees. Council approved the ordinance.

Fire Chief Keith Estes addressed the council inquiring about the possible zoning of some property which includes his residence. Estes asked the council to consider the matter in depth before the rezoning materializes.

Estes was especially concerned about runoff and how that would affect his property.

Richmond said he will research the matter and the council will discuss it again at a future meeting.

Plans for the Ozark Orchard Festival are moving along well, Richmond reported. The Ozark Orchard Festival will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the ball field, 224 E. Gardner.

John Bunch, County Commissioner, addressed the council regarding a building he owns, which he uses for storage. He is being charged a monthly trash/water bill. Because he only uses this building for storage, Bunch requested that the trash be taken off his water bill. Richmond said he would check into taking the trash bill off his water bill.

Departments

Police Chief Curt Drake said the ordered ammunition has been received.

Drake said a computer was donated to the Police Department.

Drake said he is checking into coverage for the Christmas Train in December to ensure there will be enough officers on hand due to the expectancy of a large crowd.

Alderman Keith Kohler reminded everyone that the annual city staff barbecue will be at his house at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25.

David Brodie, city supervisor, said he will be going to Jefferson City in November to learn how to send reports electronically to the Department of Natural Resources.

Brodie said he would like to purchase a voltage and amp meter, which will cost approximately $106. The council approved the purchase.

Bills

Bills from Sept. 20, 2016, including transfers, were approved by the council in the amount of $28,355.14.
