The McDonald County Lady Mustangs volleyball team opened the 2015 season when they hosted a jamboree with the squads Diamond, Monett and Seneca on Aug. 18 by winning five out of six games.

The Lady Mustangs opened the jamboree by splitting with Diamond, dropping the first game 16-14 before coming back to claim a 15-7 win in the second.

In McDonald County's second match against Seneca, the Lady Mustangs claimed 15-6, 15-11 wins.

To close out the scrimmage, the Lady Mustangs defeated Monett a 15-8 and 15-4.

"I thought our strength was our serve receive," said coach Kacha Schmit. "I expect that to only improve. We have the ability to move the ball at the net, however we must become more aware of the opponent's defense and become more aggressive to attack their weaknesses. The girls are starting to come together on the court and have developed a strong bond."

McDonald County opened the 2015 regular season on Aug. 25 at Jasper. The Lady Mustangs' home opener is Sept. 15 against Neosho.
