One event at the annual Old Timer's Day celebration in Southwest City that has fast become a crowd favorite is the Outhouse Race.

This year's race will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 on Main Street in Southwest City.

Teams are required to build an outhouse consisting of four walls, a roof, doorway and a toilet seat for the "driver" to sit.

Teams are encouraged to dress in costumes to fit the theme of their outhouse.

Spectators will have the opportunity to vote for the most unusual outhouse during the People's Choice Awards. The Humdinger Award will go to the most unique.

Deadline for entry into the race is April 30. For rules and registration, contact Tammie Martin at 417-762-3257 or Jodi Huston at 417-762-3313.
