Head-on Collision Injures Two

Two people were hurt Tuesday at about noon in a two-vehicle wreck on Business Highway 71 in Anderson, just north of Route NN.

According to a report from the Anderson Police Department, Peggy Gilliam, 49, of Anderson, was northbound in a passenger car when she crossed the center lane and struck a southbound tractor trailer.

Gilliam was taken by air ambulance to Freeman West Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the car, Cassidee Gilliam, age unknown, daughter of the driver, was taken to Freeman with less than serious injuries.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Phillip Wyrick, 61, of Joplin, was not injured.
