Junior High Wrestlers Take Second At Seneca Tournament

The McDonald County Junior High wrestling team took second place out of 12 teams at the Seneca Junior High Wrestling Tournament held Saturday.

Carl Junction scored 158 points to edge the Mustangs, who came in second with 152 points. Rounding out the field were Seneca, with 150, Monett 141, Lebanon 138, Nevada 127.5, Bolivar 114.5, Republic 114, Joplin North 71, Joplin South 59, Columbus, Kan. 20 and Joplin East 2.

Oscar Ortiz was the Mustangs' only champion in the A division. Other results for McDonald County are as follows: Zach Weaver, second place, 85 pounds; Keagan Spurgeon, fourth place, 90 pounds; Johann Delacruz, second place, 95 pounds; Austin White, eighth place, 100 pounds; CeCe Alley, eighth place, 105 pounds; Jack Bowers, fourth place, 110 pounds; Marshall Foreman, fifth place, 115 pounds; Thaw Poe, seventh place, 120 pounds; Andrew Frank, sixth place, 127 pounds; Oakley Roessler, second place, 134 pounds; Matthew Dudley, fourth place, 141 pounds; Micah Burkholder, fifth place, 148 pounds; Malachi Logan, fourth place, 155 pounds; Joseph Brown, second place, 165 pounds; Kaleb Mitchell, second place, 180 pounds; and Lane Pointer, fifth, 215 pounds.

McDonald County results from the B bracket include David Lazalde, second place, 90 pounds; Tashawn Williams, third place, 134 pounds; Braden Sargent, fifth place, 165 pounds; Jesus Ocampo, first place, 165 pounds; and Dylan Akins, third place, 180 pounds.
