The McDonald County Lady Mustang volleyball team avenged an earlier season loss to Neosho by beating the Lady Wildcats in the Carl Junction High School Volleyball Tournament for the Lady Mustangs' first win of the year.
McDonald County opened the Sept. 29 tournament with three straight losses -- 25-14, 25-6 to Nevada, 25-12, 25-15 to Eminence and 25-11, 25-10 to Webb City -- before claiming a 25-20, 25-23 decision over Neosho.
The Lady Mustangs dropped a 25-12, 20-25, 25-18 decision to Republic in their final match of the tournament.
After splitting the first two sets, Monett beat the Lady Mustangs 25-17 in the third and deciding set for a 25-19, 24-26, 25-17 win on Sept. 25 at Monett High School.
Lamar claimed a 25-14, 25-23 straight set victory on Sept. 27 at Lamar High School.
McDonald County falls to 1-14 entering its Oct. 2 match against East Newton. The Lady Mustangs host Cassville on Oct. 4. Matches begin at 6 p.m.Sports on 10/04/2018
