The "Black" team won the match, 46-11, over the "Red" team. Leading the way for the winners were pins by Ryan Donica, Zack Weaver, Leon Zacarias, Teague, Jesus Ocampo and McCoy Ikosia. Winning by decision for the Black team were Eh Doh Say, Junior Teriek and Jarred Maggard.

Ortiz had the only pin for the Red team, while Christian Davidson won a 16-1 decision for the Red team's only other win.

Girls Basketball

The McDonald County Lady Mustang basketball team took to the floor for the first time under new coach Chris Kennedy.

Kennedy greeted three returning starters along with several other returning lettermen when practices opened on Oct. 29. Returning starters include Samantha Frazier, Ragan Wilson and Rita Santillan. Kristin Penn had time as a part-time starter as a freshman last year.

In the two 14-minute running clock halves, the Black team claimed a 12-10 win over the Red team.

Rita Santillan scored four points, including a three-pointer, to lead the Black team. Rounding out the scoring for the Black team were Alexia Estrada, Lily Allman, Jaylie Sanny and Mattie Leach, all with two points each.

Penn scored the Red team's first six points before Ragan Wilson had the last four.

The Lady Mustangs open the season at the Carl Junction tournament that begins on Nov. 26.

Boys Basketball

Returning starters Boston Dowd and Cooper Reece will lead the Mustangs in coach Kyle Fields' third year as head coach. Returning letterman Cade Smith was first off the bench last year, while guards Tae-Shawn Alik and Saul Garcia should compete for starting spots.

The boys' scrimmage went to sudden death overtime before Cade Smith scored to give the Red team a 26-24 win over the Black team. (Teams changed players after the first half)

Smith finished with six points to go with Reece's 10 points to lead the Red team. Rounding out the scoring were Tae-Shawn Alik and Jackson Clarkson with three each and Ben Mora and Koby McAlister with two each.
