Summer Reading Program Kicks Off June 2

The McDonald County Library's Summer Reading Program will feature activities for all ages.

The kickoff -- set for Saturday, June 2 -- will feature crafts for children at all library branches, said library director Amy Wallain.

The Van Gogh Art Bus will be on hand, and library officials are excited about living out the theme, "Libraries Rock."

Children, teens and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate, Wallain said.

All participants will be able to read and log their books. Wallain said "fantastic prizes" will be available this summer. Extra children's programming also will be featured.

Those interested in attending the June 2 kickoff may choose from three events:

• 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Pineville library, featuring games, crafts and a special visit from the Van Gogh Bus;

• Noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Noel branch library, featuring a Mad Science show; and

• 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Southwest City Library, featuring games, crafts and a special visit from the Van Gogh bus.

Every child will receive two free tickets to the Scott Family Amazeum. Drawings will be held for two free tickets to Silver Dollar City, gift cards and more.

All programs at the McDonald County Library are free to attend, including the Summer Reading Program.
