Baseball Team Receives Big 8 Honors

Several members of the 2018 McDonald County High School baseball team were recently honored by the Big 8 Conference.

Earning first-team honors were catcher Joe Brown (unanimous) and outfielder Tyler Stoutsenberger.

Brown hit .372 and drove in 16 runs, while Stoutsenberger hit .327 with 13 RBIs.

Named to the second team were pitcher Charlie Moore and outfielder Ty Shaver.

Moore finished with a 7-2 record with a 2.09 e.r.a. while striking out 73 batters in 50 1/3 innings. Shaver hit .303, scoring a team-leading 26 runs. Shaver also set a school record with 28 stolen bases.

Earning honorable mention were pitcher Boston Dowd and second baseman Jorden Platter.

Dowd was 2-3 on the mound, with a 1.96 e.r.a. The junior right-hander struck out 31 in 39 2/3 innings. Platter hit .256 and scored 14 runs.
