Community To Display Quilts This Weekend

Thursday, May 17, 2018

The Bunker Hill Community Club will host the annual "Quilt Show and More" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 19, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, at the Pineville Community Center.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to purchase hand-created items, see what products vendors have brought to sell, view demonstrations and enjoy some good food.

Bunker Hill Community Club member Sam Alps said anyone wanting to show a quilt can bring it to Bunker on Thursday or the community center on Friday.

The show is not one juried by judges, but rather is a chance for folks to show their quilts and for viewers to appreciate the demonstrated skill. For instance, someone who has her grandmother's quilt is welcome to participate, Alps said.

Last year's show brought in more than 100 quilts to be displayed, she added.

Organizers generally do not know how many people will bring quilts to show but anticipate a great deal of participation.

In addition to being able to view a variety of quilts, chances will be sold for a quilt, as well as a table full of quilting supplies.

Admission is a donation for the maintenance of the Bunker School House and the Bunker Community Building.

The Pineville Community Center is located at 602 Jesse James Road, Pineville.
