Young Outdoorsmen United To Hold Annual Banquet

Young Outdoorsmen United will be hosting its annual dinner banquet on Sunday, June 24, in the Rendezvous Room at the River Ranch Resort in Noel.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for raffle games and a silent auction, with dinner served at 6 p.m. A live auction begins at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for youth (5-18), and $5 for kids (4 and under). Prices will increase after the Friday, March 16, deadline. Call early to make reservations at 417-439-8594.

The guest speaker this year will be the director of the Missouri Department of Conservation, Sara Parker Pauley. She will address the public on a variety of topics and, if time permits, an open discussion is planned for questions from attendees.

Director Pauley was selected by the Missouri Conservation Commission and began serving on Nov. 1, 2016, as the ninth director and the first female since the Department of Conservation's formation in 1937. Prior to being selected as director, she served as the director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and has been an executive committee and board member of the Conservation Federation of Missouri. Pauley received both her law degree and her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

"We are beyond thrilled to have the leader of the most admired conservation department in the U.S. as part of our dinner banquet program," stated Dan Fuller president and founder of the Young Outdoorsmen United organization. "The opportunity to hear her message is exciting."

With new and added games to earn raffle tickets, the event will give away nine guns this year.

"We have worked hard to make sure everyone attending will have fun, and we'll feature some extra cool items in our auctions," said committee member volunteer Jason Platter. The proceeds from the event will be used to fuel the organization's monthly outdoor activities for the upcoming year. Future events include a bass fishing trip, an ammunition re-loading class, cave exploring tour, and dove, turkey, deer and duck hunts.

Young Outdoorsmen United is an independent organization based in McDonald County with a goal to "build opportunities for youth and families to enjoy the outdoors through hunting, fishing, shooting and other related outdoor activities."
