Jack Allman

Dr. Jack Allman, 90, a Neosho resident and retired school superintendent, passed away peacefully at Freeman Neosho Hospital on March 2, 2018, after having experienced long-term congestive heart failure. He was born in Joplin, Mo., on July 26, 1927, the son of the late Charles A. Allman Sr. and Helen Giesecke Allman

He graduated from the Anderson, Mo., High School in 1945, and joined the Navy immediately afterwards, receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. He attended Drury College for one year, and then completed a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 at SMSC. He received a Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1953, and later returned there to complete an Ed.D in 1976.

He taught school for one year each at Anderson High School and at the high school in Raymore-Peculiar. His careers as Missouri school superintendent included Iberia, Sarcoxie, El Dorado Springs, Odessa, Joplin (13 years), Ava, and McDonald County. He was also Superintendent of Schools at the American Community School (Lincoln) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is associated with the U.S. Department of State. In addition, the school serves as a liaison for the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires.

In 1947, he married Polly Ann Marney. They divorced after over 29 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 1997. In 1977, he married Ann Lowrance Hamilton who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jim Allman, Jeff Allman and wife Maxine, and three stepsons, Scott Hamilton, David Hamilton and wife Jan, and Dennis Hamilton. Grandchildren are Tracy Allman, Ben Allman, Sam Allman and wife Abigail, plus Dale Hamilton, Kurt Hamilton, Boone Hamilton, Cody Hamilton and wife Mariana. Also surviving are his nephew Fred Allman and wife Kathi and their three children, Madison, Casey, and Juliana.

Preceding him in death were his son John and John's oldest daughter Kelly, his brother Charles A. Allman Jr. and wife Margaret, cousins Lawrence and Mary Margaret Pippin, Jim Pippin, and Ann's sister, Janet Lowrance Hamilton.

Funeral services were held at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho on Wednesday, March 7, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Al Gritten officiating. Burial following the service will be in the Anderson, Mo., Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, March 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Clark's. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack can be made to the First Baptist Church in Anderson of which Jack was a member, the First Christian Church in Neosho, or to a Boy Scouts of America organization of one's choice in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.

John Henry Fry was born October 26, 1931, to Ted and Florence Fry in a field by a field near Hart, Mo., which is near Seneca, Mo. He died March 5, 2018, in Wichita, Kan.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1953 in Pfaffenhofen, Germany, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was employed as a telegrapher for Missouri Pacific Railroad and later as a car distributor and then as a senior claims representative for the Union Pacific Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Jean (Forson) Fry. He is also survived by three children, Larry (Myra) Fry of Columbus, Miss., Vicki (Darrell) Larson of Andover, Kan., and Cindy (Mark) Colley of Owasso, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Amy (Graham) Thomas of Siloam Springs, Ark., Vanessa (Jeremy) Thomson of Kansas City, Kan., Jonathan (Toni) Fry of Columbus, Miss., DeAnn (Tim) Bruner of Salina, Kan., Jordan (Casee) Colley of Owasso, Okla., Aaron (Anna Hope) Colley of Fayetteville, Ark., and Sarah Larson of Kansas City, Mo.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Junior Fry and Gene Fry; sisters, Phyllis Ross and Erma Heger; and grandson, Bryan James Larson.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Hillside Funeral Home West in Wichita, Kan. The funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Evangel Assembly Of God Church, 11444 W. 21st St. N., Wichita, KS 67205. Burial is at 4:30 p.m. March 9 at Swars Prairie Baptist Church Cemetery in Seneca, with Military Honors by U.S. Army. Memorials may be made to Evangel Assembly of God Church.

Larry Edward McKinney, 59, of Anderson, Mo., died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo., after a sudden illness.

He was born Aug. 10, 1958, in Nyssa, Ore., to the late Clyde Edward and Mary Ann (Matthews) McKinney. He was raised and attended school in McDonald County Missouri. He was a truck driver and enjoyed fishing and muscle cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Stephen McKinney.

Survivors include three children, Aundrea Self of Goodman, Mo., Sarah House and Melody McKinney, both of Neosho, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Scott Leonard officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 5 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in the Lee Cemetery near Sulphur Springs, Ark.

Frances Morgan, 92, of Los Angeles, Calif., died Monday, March 5, 2018.

She was born May 4, 1925, in West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Morgan; a daughter, Linda May Morgan; and son, Jeffrey Morgan.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Heather Babber; and great-grandchildren, Jaya and Eashan Babber of Pacific Palisades, Calif.

A celebration of life graveside memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Banner Cemetery in Goodman, Mo. The Reverend Dennis Bergen will officiate.

Amos "Lil Amos" Dwayne Reece, 43, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018.

He was born Aug. 5, 1974, in Jay, Okla., to Edward "Amos" Reece and Donna Mitchell-Reece. He graduated from Jay High School in 1992. He was a hard worker and family man.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kimberly Reece; and son, Jacob "Jake" Dean Reece.

Survivors include his son, Kaleb Dwayne Reece of Jay; parents, Edward and Donna Reece of Jay; two brothers, Bob Reece (Bobbie) of Eucha, Okla., and Joshua Reece (Erin) of Allen, Kan.

A celebration of life service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St. in Jay, with Benny Lukens officiating.

Evelyn Leaona Zinn

Evelyn Leaona Zinn, 81 , of Anderson, Mo., died Sunday, March 4, 2018, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Macomb, Ill., to Harmon and Gladys (Newingham) Swink. She married Fred Zinn on Jan. 18, 1954, in Clayton, N.M. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; a son, Fred "Sam" Zinn; a daughter, LaRonda Willis; three brothers, Joe Lynn Murray, Jackie Lee Swink and Lawrence James Murray; and two sisters, Vonda Swink and Loretta Murray.

Survivors include her son, Larry Zinn (Louetta) of Anderson; three brothers, Harmon Jefferson Swink Jr. (Pat) of Linden, Texas, Sam Murray of Gravette, Ark., Gery Swink (Peggy) of Georgia; four sisters, LaVern Moore of Noel, Mo., Anna Brown (Jim) of Sulphur Springs, Ark., Vada Mae Murray of Decatur, Ark., Vivian Michelle McBee (K.J.) of Edmond, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home with Brother Tom Sumner officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.
