Ethan Francisco allowed two hits in five innings to give the McDonald County 16U baseball team a 3-2 win and a split of a doubleheader on June 21 in Monett.

Francisco struck out four, walked one and hit one batter to get the win.

Monett took a 2-0 lead in the second inning before McDonald County rallied with one in the third and two in the fourth for the win.

Colton Ruddick singled to lead off the third inning. He was still there with two out before Junior Eliam doubled to score McDonald County's first run.

With no one on and two out in the fourth, Cory Creason walked to start the winning rally. Wyatt Jordan followed with an RBI triple to tie the game before scoring the eventual winning run on a passed ball.

Jordan, Ruddick, Eliam, Matthew Mora and Lee Sohse had one hit each to lead the McDonald County offense.

Monett rallied from a three-run deficit to claim a 9-3 win in the opener. Sohse went the distance, allowing nine runs on 15 hits while striking out eight.

McDonald County scored a run in the first on a walk to Cole Martin, a hit by pitch by Jordan, a stolen base and an error.

In the second inning, Eliam, Mora and Francisco singled to load the bases to open the inning. With two out, Ruddick singled in two runs to give McDonald County a 3-0 lead.

But from that point on it was all Monett. Monett took the lead with four runs in the third on five hits and an error. Monett added two more in the fifth and three in the sixth, while shutting out McDonald County over the final five innings.

Ruddick's hit in the second inning was the final McDonald County hit of the game. Ruddick, Eliam, Mora and Francisco had the only hits of the game for McDonald County.

McDonald County closes out its season this week with home games on June 26 against the Southwest Missouri Warriors and on June 27 against Carthage.
