Jean Mathis, 80, of Pineville, Mo., died suddenly Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Mo.

She was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Noel, Mo., to George Fredrick and Beulah D. (Partain) Chrisman. She married Arthur Jr. Mathis on Dec. 14, 1964. She enjoyed gardening and going to the cafe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Jr. Mathis; a daughter, Regina Louise "Sissy" Mathis; her twin brother, Jerry Mathis; and siblings, George Chrisman, Nina Davis and Lola Chrisman.

Survivors include her son, Arthur Joseph "Joe" Mathis (Crystal) of Pineville; and four grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the Pineville Community Center in Pineville. Burial will be held at a later date in the Tracy Cemetery in Anderson, Mo.

Kenneth Leon May, 79, of Noel, Mo., died Monday, May 28, 2018, at Joplin Freeman Hospital.

He was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Jay, Okla., to Francis J. and Willie Opal (Lowry) May. He married Nancy Joleen Hillman on July 10, 1998, in Salina, Kan. He retired from Boeing after 26 years. He enjoyed camping and canoeing and, upon retirement, moved to Noel, by the river.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joey D. May; sisters, Baby Ruth and Eunice Yvonne Hutchinson; and granddaughter, Erica L. (Boucher) Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Nancy J. (Hillman) May; his daughters, Linda Leann Boucher, Kelly Jo (Charles) Shelton, Rebecca Kay (Paul) Cryderman, Donna Lynn (George) May-Murray, and Janelle (Rich) Carlton; son, Richard L. May; and 16 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, and a memorial service will be at noon Saturday, June 16, 2018, at New Life Church in Anderson, Mo.

Margie Lou Mitchell, 89, of Anderson, Mo., died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the McDonald County Living Center in Anderson.

She was born Oct. 1, 1928, in rural Goodman, Mo., to Loren and Morine (Krause) Eads. She was a lifelong area resident and attended the May Community School. On April 19, 1951, she married Dewayne Mitchell. She was head cook with the McDonald County School District and, after retirement, she worked as a caregiver for several area residents. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She attended the Tri-City Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Dewayne; a sister, Etta Mae Morris; and two brothers, Richard Eads and Doug Eads.

Survivors include three children, Ronnie Mitchell (Retha) of Anderson, Donnie Mitchell of Newtonia, Mo., and Tammie Schneider of Neosho, Mo.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Mitchell of Anderson and Loretta Taylor of Neosho.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 11, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastors Ken Cowin and Mark Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Mitchell Cemetery.

Memorials are being directed to the Mitchell Cemetery Care Fund c/o the funeral home.

Karen Sue Ruddick, 67, of Centerton, Ark., formerly of Tiff City, Mo., died Monday, June 11, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Ark.

She was born Nov. 24, 1950, in Galena, Kan., to Jesse and Essie Bernice (Horne) Miller. On Oct. 20, 1969, she married James Ruddick. They were longtime residents of Tiff City. She was a physical therapist assistant and worked at Grove General Hospital for more than 25 years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and online video games. She attended Patterson Heights Baptist Church as well as Victory Road Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, James Ruddick; a sister, Claudette Jones; and two brothers, Louis and Melvin Miller.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Casey (Darren) of Centerton and Melissa Chatham (Jerry) of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Sherrie Smith and Doris Lawson, both of Joplin, Mo.; and a brother, Mike Miller of Maysville, Ark.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Marilyn O'Brien officiating. Burial will follow in the Peace Valley Cemetery in Anderson.
