A special group of volunteers is focused on cataloging artifacts at the McDonald County Historical Society Museum.

The volunteers are utilizing their computer skills to document and organize the museum's numerous artifacts, said Historical Society president Karen Dobbs.

"Our artifacts needed some attention," Dobbs said.

Organizers plan for the group of volunteers to display and store all the artifacts digitally on a computer. The special group will earn a Walmart matching grant for the volunteer hours worked. That grant, in turn, will benefit the Historical Society.

The artifacts represent the history of McDonald County residents and neighbors who worked so hard to make the county successful through farming, military service, community work and more.

The museum features numerous exhibits, including a new "Stories of Military Service" exhibit unveiled on Memorial Day weekend.

Hours are for the museum are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The museum will be open throughout Jesse James Days in August.

Admission is free. The museum is located on the Pineville Square.
