David Collingsworth was celebrating a birthday as we gathered to worship Sunday morning at Mill Creek Baptist Church. We greeted several visitors, and Wayne Johnson opened our service with prayer. Special prayers were requested for the Buddy Peck family, Susan Cory and Dot's sister. In announcements, Brother Mark and Shelley will host the widow/widower's lunch next Sunday after church, and movie night will be on Friday, Feb. 23, with soup and chili served at 6 p.m.

Linda Abercrombie gave the devotional for love in February with "Knowing vs. Doing" and read Mark 12:30-31. We love lots of things including our Lord. Love is patient and love is kind and God's two greatest commandments are to love Him and others. Talking about love is meaningless unless we do it.

Congregational hymns included, "Down On My Knees." We were also blessed with special music from Jerry Abercrombie who sang "Why Me Lord," Karen Gardner and Wayne Johnson who sang "Jesus Is Coming Soon," and Kenny and guest who sang "It Is Well With My Soul." Rick Lett and Tyrel Lett served as ushers and collected the offering.

Matthew 28:18-20 was the text for Brother Mark Hall's message, "The To-Do List." The scripture says in the words of Jesus, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit." Brother Mark began by talking about the oppressive weight of the "to-do list" that we can all feel at times. "Seems we get one done and then add three more to the list." To keep it from overwhelming us, we sometimes sacrifice things to take care of it. Not just anyone can add to your to-do list. It takes an authority to get on it. Verse 18 tells us that is Jesus. Verses 19-20 tells us that there are four things Jesus tells us to put on our to-do list: go make disciples, baptize, teach and then don't stress out over it. Verse 18 tells us that Jesus has the authority to give us these duties. We do have a deadline for our to-do list because in Matthew 24:44 Jesus says "Therefore you also be ready for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." Brother Mark told us when He comes, we want Him to find us doing our to-do list. Don't get caught doing nothing! We have a deadline for it.

As Brother Mark talked about our to-do list, he told us that when disciples are made, they need to be baptized. "Jesus walked 60 miles one way to be baptized in the Jordan River. Baptism shows we believe in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, and we identify ourselves with that gospel. Baptism is not for salvation, it follows salvation. Baptism is necessary for obedience, and obedience is necessary for joy and a fruitful life. We then must teach as it tells us in Hebrews 5:12-14. It is like being an apprentice on a job. A disciple of Christ is an apprentice to Jesus. The day comes when we should be able to go teach. Jesus knew this to-do list wouldn't be easy for us that is why he told us not to stress out about it when we don't feel qualified. We don't do it alone. He will never neglect us. Go make disciples, baptize, teach and don't stress about it. Don't let someone miss spending eternity with God because you didn't work on your to-do list.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells us "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age."

Our hymn of invitation was "Trust and Obey," and Rick Lett gave the benediction. Richard came forward to profess His faith. We invite you to worship with us at Mill Creek Baptist Church located three and one-half miles east of Noel, just off Highway 90. Everyone is welcome.
