Dec. 6

The Commission took bids on two dump trucks for the county. Commissioner John Bunch motioned to accept a bid from Tri-State Truck Center and trade in a used dump truck as part of the agreement. The motion passed unanimously.

Dec. 11

Commissioners signed and approved accounts payable checks in the amount of $267,198.53.

Dec. 13

Mark Stanton, McDonald County superintendent of schools, met with the commission to discuss school resource officers in McDonald County and subsequent compensation. Stanton also discussed a partnership between schools and the county and how he would like to see more communication between the two entities. The commission agreed.

Jim Bell met with the commission to discuss a culvert.

The salary commission met for a final time in 2017. Commissioners discussed a cost of living adjustment for all county employees and officeholders in 2018.

Commissioners conducted site visits of various roads in the county and conducted general county business.

Dec. 20

The 2017 Budget Hearing: the budget message was read by the McDonald County clerk, Kimberly Bell.

Commissioner David Holloway motioned to accept the 2017 budget. The motion passed unanimously.

Dec. 27

Commissioner David Holloway moved to issue a court order to treasurer Joye Helm permitting her to transfer funds from the County Revenue Fund in the following amounts:

• $45,000 to Assessment Fund;

• $35,000 to Health Department Fund;

• $130,000 to Law Enforcement Fund;

The motion passed unanimously.

Jan. 3

The commission met with officeholders and department supervisors to discuss 2018 budgets.

Jan. 8

Sheriff Mike Hall met with the commission to discuss the law budget for 2018.

Jay Chism, University of Missouri regional director, met with the commission to discuss University of Missouri Extension programs and structure.

Jan. 10

Sheriff Mike Hall met with the commission to discuss the jail budget for 2018.

Jan. 15

Due to inclement weather and the safety of county employees, Commissioner Keith Lindquist closed the courthouse early.
