Power Lifters Place First, Second

The McDonald County High School boys' powerlifting team took first place, and the girls' second, at the Joplin High School Power Lifting Meet held Jan. 27 at Joplin High School.

Leading the boys were overall class winners Matt Calhoun (165-175), Isrrael De Santiago (175-185), Micah Burkholder (185-195) and Elliott Wolfe (250+).

Taking second place overall for the Mustangs were Corbin Jones (155-165), Carlos Sosa (215-225) and Nolen Baisch (225-250).

Third place overall went to Kennedy Hodson (165-175) and Oakley Roessler (175-185).

Individual event winners included Jorden Platter (clean, under 145), Jones (back squat), Calhoun (clean) and Hodson and Calhoun (tied for bench).

McDonald County's only girl overall winner was Alison Nicoletti (145-160). Jade Jackson was second (145-160), while Emily Thornton was third (115) as was Jackie Grider (145-160).

Placing second and third behind the McDonald County boys were Glendale and Pittsburg, respectively.

Pittsburg won the girls' title, followed by McDonald County and Joplin.
